Chairperson - Annette Schiller

Annette Schiller is a Professional Member of the ITIA. She has a BA (Mod) in French and Spanish from TCD, an MA in Translation Studies (German) from DCU and a Diploma in Legal Studies from DIT. In addition to her work as a translator, she teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate translation studies programmes at DCU.  She is currently involved in doctoral research in the area of website design and translation at the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies (CTTS) at DCU.

Secretary - Mary Phelan

Mary Phelan lectures in Spanish, translation and interpreting at Dublin City University where she set up the 'Graduate Certificate in Community Interpreting'. Her research interest is community interpreting, in particular legal interpreting.

 

Treasurer  - Miriam Watchorn

Miriam Watchorn is a Professional Member of the ITIA and also serves on the Certification sub-committee of the association. She studied Applied Languages and Philosophy at Lille University and subsequently worked in France for several years. She holds the postgraduate Diploma in Translation from the Institute of Linguists, of which she is also a member. She is a full-time freelance translator. She also works as an interpreter and as an English and French language trainer and translator tutor.

Máire Nic Mhaoláin - Honorary Member of the ITIA and Chair of the Professional Membership Sub-Committee

Studied Celtic Languages, French and Latin at QUB.  MA (Thesis) on Old and Middle Irish prose. Diploma in Italian. Long-term editor of Irish-language publications (lexicography, terminology and general) in the Dept. of Education and Science (Dublin). Lexicographical researcher in ITÉ (Dublin) and University of Ulster at Coleraine. Taught literary translation at UU and DCU. Honorary Member of ITIA since 2005.

John Kearns

Guest editor of Translation Ireland, member of the FIT Committee on Translator Training

John Kearns studied at the universities of Kent and Manchester in England and worked as a translator and translator trainer in Poland. He is currently at Dublin City University researching curriculum design for translator training. He chairs the Training Committee of the International Association of Translation and Intercultural Studies and edits the IATIS Bulletin (www.iatis.org). He is currently developing a bibliography of Polish translation studies with St. Jerome Press and a team of Polish academics.

 

Adam Brozynski

Adam Broznski has an MA in English Studies from Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) in Poznan, Poland and a post-graduate diploma in Translation from the School of Translation, Interpreting and Foreign Languages (UAM) in Poznan. He is a native speaker of Polish but has lived in Ireland since 1997. He is a freelance interpreter and translator of Polish.
